If you’re looking for a fantastic, full sounding, energetic band to make sure your wedding reception or party goes off with a bang, look no further than the Gillan Edgar Band. We pride ourselves on being unlike a typical Wedding Band – we aim to deliver our firebrand guitars and layered harmonies with a passion that’s lacking in a lot of bands we’ve seen on the circuit. We love playing live, and that attitude feeds the energy of any crowd we’re performing for; be it a wedding, Christmas party, corporate event or just a good old knees up at one of our public gigs. We’ve got over 6 years of experience getting the dancefloor heaving and keeping the crowd on their feet. If good quality music delivered professionally is important to you (and why shouldn’t it be!) then we’re already on the same wavelength. Get in touch via phone or…
Saturday 18th February 2012, The Comedy Store Manchester, Deansgate Locks – Full showcase from 12 Midnight. **Just confirmed – FREE DRINKS VOUCHERS – pop an email to [email protected] or use the messager on the right to let me know you’re coming and I’ll send the vouchers across** Judging by the enquiries at Tatton, there’s lots of interest in the upcoming showcase – the Comedy Store isn’t going to know what’s hit them! As always, it’s totally free entry to the Helter Skelter bar downstairs where we make with the musical mayhem. This is a great opportunity to see the Gillan Edgar Band in its natural habitat – come down if you’re looking for a fantastic wedding/function band and you want to make sure we’ve got the goods! Be there for Midnight when the full gig kicks off and the requests come flying thick and fast…
We had a blast getting this little promo vid done with Rebecca Reville Videography. A blustery January evening and a rack of lights got the atmosphere going in the larger annexe of Studio G. (Click through to Vimeo to see the full HD version – it’s a real looker!). There’s a few vidimonials scattered around the vid, as I’ve been displaying it at this year’s Tatton Wedding Fayre. An exhausting but satisfying weekend of setting up, chatting, mingling, set dressing, performing and packing down; all in cuban heels designed more for posing than performing manual labour! If you want to see the band in full swing, we’re doing another showcase at the Comedy Store on 18th Feb – bring your requests down! Check out the details here – Comedy Store Showcase 2012
Well hello there! How’s it going? Just managed to catch my breath after the festive period, and it’s back to mayhem and reality in equal measure. This month is all about getting prepared for the Tatton Wedding Show in three weeks or so – looking forward to showing the band off on the exhibition stage for the first time. To tie in with the Wedding Fayre, I’ve arranged another Gillan Edgar Band public showcase, again at the fantastic Comedy Store on Deansgate Locks, Manchester on Saturday 18th Feb. We’ll be doing the usual quick half hour in the interval of the comedy show (10:30), then a full on gig once everyone’s had their sides well and truly split upstairs (about 12). I can’t wait – it’s not often we get to play an open gig like this, a chance to let our hair down and demand more requests than usual!…
A lovely email popped into the inbox today courtesy of Tom from Silk Wedding Videos. He’s uploaded the film from a recent wedding we were both involved in – Kate & Andrew’s at Sandhole Oak Barn. As Tom mentions in the post, it’s a lovely venue, totally idyllic and is a pleasure to perform at! Kate and Andrew were a lovely couple and seemed to me to be having a fantastic day. And from the looks of the film, the rest of the wedding seems to have gone really well – pop over to Silk and have a gander for yourself (and keep an eye out for my little cameo!) – http://silkweddingvideos.co.uk/blog/ In other news, the new Gillan Edgar Band demo for 2011 is well underway now, so please get in touch if you’d like a copy sent out in the post once the polish has been applied. It’s always…
We had a fantastic time at the ‘inaugural’ Comedy Store showcase last friday – with loads of you in attendance helping to make it a great night. Some excellent suggestions from the crowd ensured an interesting mix of music, and by all accounts you seemed to get a good idea of how versatile the Gillan Edgar Party Band can be. The calendar is filling up as we speak! Just returned from a stint at Papalla bar in Zermatt, Switzerland, in the shadow of the iconic Matterhorn (the mountain that inspired the Paramount Pictures logo). Returned to a weekend of weddings and last minute gigs, so today is blanked out in the diary for ‘Recuperation’ (ie. time to tackle the garden… thank heaven for the nailgun). More full band showcases to follow – you can always catch me solo acoustic at the Comedy Store on the following dates; Friday 29th April…
I know many of the couples I met at this year’s Tatton Wedding Show were dying to experience the Gillan Edgar Party Band live for themselves, and I’m happy to let them and you know that I’ve arranged the first of this year’s public showcases. Having enjoyed a long term Acoustic Solo residency at Manchester’s Comedy Store, I knew it would be the perfect place to invite you all down to check out the band in full swing! We’ll be appearing on Friday 18th March, with a short 30 minute set at 9:30, followed by a full gig starting from 11pm (and finishing whenever we all see fit!). It’s free entry to the Helter Skelter Bar downstairs where we’ll be playing, and I’ve got some free drinks vouchers for the first 10 couples who send me a message through the contact page to let me know they’ll be attending. A…
Not long til we’re all basking in the glow of the summer sun (come on Mother Nature!) and the Wedding Season gets properly under way. It’s going to be a busy summer for the Gillan Edgar Party band with plenty of couples having already snapped us up to get their parties going after the nuptials have been exchanged and the (dreaded?) speeches are done and dusted… I had a great response from Tatton – I’m in the process of arranging a ‘public showcase’ for all the couples that want to experience the Gillan Edgar Party Band in real life. It’s going to be within the next month or so – keep your eyes peeled for the mailout when it arrives… Still plenty of acoustic solo gigs for you to come and see what I can do by myself however – you’re always welcome to come down and shout out a…
