If you’re looking for a fantastic, full sounding, energetic band to make sure your wedding reception or party goes off with a bang, look no further than the Gillan Edgar Band. We pride ourselves on being unlike a typical Wedding Band – we aim to deliver our firebrand guitars and layered harmonies with a passion that’s lacking in a lot of bands we’ve seen on the circuit. We love playing live, and that attitude feeds the energy of any crowd we’re performing for; be it a wedding, Christmas party, corporate event or just a good old knees up at one of our public gigs. We’ve got over 6 years of experience getting the dancefloor heaving and keeping the crowd on their feet. If good quality music delivered professionally is important to you (and why shouldn’t it be!) then we’re already on the same wavelength. Get in touch via phone or…

We had a blast getting this little promo vid done with Rebecca Reville Videography. A blustery January evening and a rack of lights got the atmosphere going in the larger annexe of Studio G. (Click through to Vimeo to see the full HD version – it’s a real looker!). There’s a few vidimonials scattered around the vid, as I’ve been displaying it at this year’s Tatton Wedding Fayre. An exhausting but satisfying weekend of setting up, chatting, mingling, set dressing, performing and packing down; all in cuban heels designed more for posing than performing manual labour! If you want to see the band in full swing, we’re doing another showcase at the Comedy Store on 18th Feb – bring your requests down! Check out the details here – Comedy Store Showcase 2012
A great couple to play for, and a fantastic wedding party to boot! I’ll stand by my offer to Lee near the end of the video, but I don’t think they’ll be needing my services again (unless it’s for a christening or a birthday party!).
A lovely little vidimonial from Victoria and Lee grabbed after a satisfyingly exhausting evening reception at the evocative Belle Epoque in Knutsford. Always a pleasure to play and DJ for a receptive crowd – one of whom invades the video to say a few nice words about me as well!
Well hello there! How’s it going? Just managed to catch my breath after the festive period, and it’s back to mayhem and reality in equal measure. This month is all about getting prepared for the Tatton Wedding Show in three weeks or so – looking forward to showing the band off on the exhibition stage for the first time. To tie in with the Wedding Fayre, I’ve arranged another Gillan Edgar Band public showcase, again at the fantastic Comedy Store on Deansgate Locks, Manchester on Saturday 18th Feb. We’ll be doing the usual quick half hour in the interval of the comedy show (10:30), then a full on gig once everyone’s had their sides well and truly split upstairs (about 12). I can’t wait – it’s not often we get to play an open gig like this, a chance to let our hair down and demand more requests than usual!…
Grabbed just as proceedings were coming to an end, another lovely on-the-spot review; this time from the wonderful Alan and Laura Roberts. A large proportion of typically exuberant Scousers helped to make this a real banger of a night do. This was a strange one for me – solo singing with acoustic and DJing. What a combo! We had such a good time, with the requests coming thick and fast. Particular emphasis was given to LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem – it had been the signature song of the lads’ stag do and, as you can imagine, it had the desired effect each of the three times (!) it was requested by the groom and his best man. Alan and Laura chose Fyfe Dangerfield’s beautiful version of ‘Always a Woman’ for their first dance, which gave me a good excuse to learn it for my own portfolio!
A lovely on-the-night review from Laura and the girls. Peckforton is always a pleasure to play at, particularly in the atmospheric Great Hall, and Ben and Laura had made some fantastic song choices. They asked for Guillemot’s gorgeous ‘Made Up Love Song’ as their first dance – we were only too happy to oblige! We played the wedding only a week or so before I was told about the fire that had caused an incredible amount of damage to the place. Such a shame about these events that have put a spanner in the works for so many couples getting married there. Here’s to a swift recovery Peckforton!
A lovely email popped into the inbox today courtesy of Tom from Silk Wedding Videos. He’s uploaded the film from a recent wedding we were both involved in – Kate & Andrew’s at Sandhole Oak Barn. As Tom mentions in the post, it’s a lovely venue, totally idyllic and is a pleasure to perform at! Kate and Andrew were a lovely couple and seemed to me to be having a fantastic day. And from the looks of the film, the rest of the wedding seems to have gone really well – pop over to Silk and have a gander for yourself (and keep an eye out for my little cameo!) – http://silkweddingvideos.co.uk/blog/ In other news, the new Gillan Edgar Band demo for 2011 is well underway now, so please get in touch if you’d like a copy sent out in the post once the polish has been applied. It’s always…
